Haslett Vikings close regular season with win over East Lansing

The top ten ranked Haslett boys tennis team finished the 2017 regular season with a 6-2 victory over East Lansing. The Vikings swept the singles flights and won at 3 and 4 doubles. With the regional championship on the horizon Thursday, the team needed a strong finish to prepare for the post season.

Senior Nathan Choi once again led the way with a solid victory over Willliam Lau of East Lansing. Alex Stanulis, Henry Zayko, and Ethan Fajardo also won their matches. Sam Zayko and Luke Bollman at 1 doubles and Matt Bidigare and Bruno Takahashi at 2 doubles both lost close matches. Jae Han and Logan Mowid at 3 doubles and Nolan Kelley and Nate Stewart at 4 doubles won to secure the victory for the Vikings.

Next up for the Vikings is the Division 3 Regional Championship at Haslett High School Thursday Oct. 12. Ten teams will compete for the title including 3 top ten ranked teams with Parma Western, Williamston, and Haslett all playing, making it one of the strongest regionals in the state. The Vikings need to finish in the top 2 or score 18 points to reach the state tournament next weekend in Holland.
